How to be happy

Happiness is something we all strive for throughout life. From time to time, the majority of us have said “I just want to be happy.” So what do we mean exactly? What is it that we are actually waiting for?

Sometimes certain situations in our lives seem to easily overpower our happiness as we tend to focus more on the problems. However in each moment, happiness is a our CHOICE to make. We can help enhance our positive energies by focusing on all that is working for us, instead of dwelling on the things that aren’t. It could be that we tend to have our hearts set on the things we want to happen and are reluctant to see happiness in other ways around us until we get what we are after. Although, sometimes even when we receive the things we desire, we don’t seem to be fully satisfied.

Do we ever stop searching for happiness in other ways? Happiness can mean different things to each individual and even the littlest things can brighten someone’s day. A simple smile can improve not only your day but also somebody else’s, you may not realise it but it is another step closer to happiness.

Sunshine also has a positive mood changing affect and it is therefore one of the main reasons people love the season of summer. Your life might not be perfect but there are so many reasons to be happy. Showing gratitude for all the positivity in your life at the moment is a starting point to keep your state of mind in a good place. It shifts your focus from the things you wish you had to the things you DO have.

Begin with yourself and think about the ways you might be blocking out happiness, maybe you are waiting for your circumstances to change? Or allowing others to affect your moods? Whatever the reasons, your thoughts are powerful, you have the ability to change your mindset and allow happiness in.

To feel the true potential of happiness, make some time for yourself, step back and take a look at the things you actually enjoy about life. Whether it is music, good company, walks in the park or reading a book, never stop doing the things you love. Beginning each day with an optimistic outlook can help towards making your dreams a happy reality.
